Council Meeting
Sunday, February 28, 2016
Agenda:
- Prayer
- Ongoing New Business:
- Incorporating more contemporary music into worship:
- Will work with Jenny to put together a new order of worship – mostly just the beginning of the service – and plan to implement the change on Easter Sunday, March, 27.
- Keyboard: Nice keyboards from $1,599.00 to $2,095.00
- Mission Focus:
- We are already involved with the Valley Center Ministerial Alliance and the Valley Center Cares For Kids program – both are “on-going” ministries. New Hope has helped with both during the holidays – possibly make regular quarterly donations to both along with holiday donations?
- Nancy – Minute For Mission not scheduled yet.
- Other ideas for mission outreach:
- Youth Horizons both in Wichita on Douglas as well as a boys ranch in north Valley center. We have been invited to tour the ranch. Date is up to us – can be during the day, in the evening, on the weekend.
- Foreign Missions:
- Micaeh Tice’s Parents are missionaries in Mexico. I have talked with Micaeh and she thinks that her parents will be home this summer in June / July and they might be able to do a “minute for mission” for us.
- Restoration Church: Local as well as foreign mission opportunities. The main focus is training Pastors for ministry in foreign countries like Africa and India.
- Ministry Focus:
- Partner with Valley Center Schools for possible ministry opportunities
- Meeting with Cory Gibson, USD 262 Superintendent, on Tuesday, March 1st.
- Partner with the Valley Center Library to enhance their children’s programs
- The Library sponsors some really great children’s programs through Le Venue during the summer. New Hope to be a sponsor and / or add some programs of our own through the library?
- Possibly have a “movie / activity day” at Le Venue during the school year

- Partner with Library during Fall Festival – Inflatables at the Park?
- Having a “movie day” would possibly require the purchase of a large screen TV, DVD player, and hook up to existing sound system in the reception hall (would need permission from Le Venue owner for installation and hook up)
- TV – 65” Sony 1,499.00; Polk Soundbar – 499.00 having this would eliminate having to rewire existing system; TV stand / cart 179.99 = this is a heavy duty, large base cart. We need something that is not easily tipped over and sturdy enough to move back and forth.
- We can use the DVD player we already have.
- I have already been volunteering at the library. It’s a great place with great people. They are really excited about New Hope being involved.
